She is Strong Enough to make it look so EASY………

Can I tell you how much I love researching and learning about the artists who are going to perform at Celebrate Virginia Live. Last year I would talk to my mom or dad and ask them to tell me what they knew about the different artists. This year I thought it would be more fun to do the research.

It amazes me what I find. Sheryl Crow was born in February. Hey! I was born in February. She is almost a heart baby like me, minus the heart surgery. She has acted and was athlete and a musician in high school. As my dad would say, “Why choose”. She was a backup singer for Michel Jackson. She wrote jingles for commercials. She loves anything with a drum beat. That is my secret obsession. I want to learn to play the drums. Well I guess it isn’t a secret anymore J

The more I read the more I realized music is a passion for Sheryl Crow, but so is her generosity. She is a mom, a breast cancer survivor, singer, activist, and a song writer. She has been involved in the Scleroderma Research Foundation since the 90s and participates in the Wounded Warriors Project. She was shocked when she found out she had breast cancer because she didn’t have a family history. Like me she has learned that medical problems do not discriminate. I think music and songs are a wonderful way to show how you are feeling. It is amazing how much emotion can go into them. I am not a song writer but I do understand as an actress.

As I get older I am required to have more mature monologues. I have this one that my mom loves to hear me perform because it is very intense, but it is very hard for me to perform. It is a scene from “My Sisters Keeper”.

I think it is hard because it hits to close to home. My brother has had to watch me most of my life go back and forth between doctors. While I am blessed I don’t require any of his body parts to survive, I know that watching me grow up with challenges has been hard. Those feelings come out in that monologue. That is why I admire artists who can put their life events into their songs and really bring out the creative emotion.

On July 12th, many will come out to listen to Sheryl Crow play those awesome award winning songs.  I am looking forward hearing her life experiences through her music.

Love,

Megs

Thank you EVERYONE for coming out and supporting Celebrate Virginia Live and Project 324 as we kicked off the 2013 concert season. The concert Friday night with Billy Currington was amazing. I had fun helping to set up for the show and meeting all the vendors and sponsors. We could not do this with out all of you and the volunteers.

It was great to see everyone having fun and dancing to the music and signing along. Seeing and hearing about friends running into each other that they hadn’t seen in awhile.

We love getting feedback from the community. What did you like? What would you like to see? What was your favorite moment? You can post comments here or on the CVL Facebook or Twitter accounts.

I wanted to say thank you to Thunder 104.5 for sponsoring Harmony Cove this year. I had a lot of fun talking and playing with the kids. Did you have a picture taken in the Foto Booth? I love bounce houses and thought we should add them to the area this year. I was so busy I didn’t even take a twirl on the bull. You bet I will be doing that at the next show.

While we were setting up I was getting hungry watching all the food trucks arrive. As the night went on, my stomach was growling watching plates of beach fries and funnel cakes walking by. I did manage to cool off with my favorite Hawaiian Ice.

I hope we will see you all out there for Sheryl Crow on July 12th. Please spread the word. Tell your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family. Tickets are still available online or at Legends Sports Grille.

See you at the show.

You Don’t Want To Miss This..

It’s the weekend …love the smell of the fresh cut grass. I look around and I see families on blankets, girlfriends talking, a mom and a dad having a date night, a grandma and grandpa holding hands sitting in their lawn chairs, bunch of guys walking around saying hi! to the ladies. I smell French fries cooking in the Beach Fries food truck. Kids are running around laughing and giggling. I pass my teacher, I see an old friend, I wave to some friends who are excited to be up close and personal.

This is Celebrate Virginia Live!

This is where people near and far come out to enjoy a nice night. Relax after a long week. Get together with family and friends. You don’t want to miss this.

Last year my brother graduated high school. He spent many weekends of the summer enjoying concerts with his friends at Celebrate Virginia Live. He knew soon they would all part ways. They were all going to different colleges, some in different states.  He knew things would change, but the one memory they all had was those summer nights.

I love when he calls home from college and asks, “Hey Megs, who is coming to CVL this year”. His first year of college has ended and he is on his way home soon. Aside from searching for a job, he plans on reuniting with the guys and head to CVL to see Billy Currington on May 17th.

In two weeks I will be out there walking the grounds saying hi to everyone, waving from the stage, as I stand with my friends from Thunder 104.5. I can’t wait to meet the vendors, talk to the sponsors, and welcome all the amazing artists who chose Fredericksburg as a stop on their concert tour.

The weather is getting warmer and summer is just around the corner. Music means memories and there is no better place then having a concert close to home.

Trust me…you don’t want to miss this.

All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun……..

It’s official another concert has been announced at Celebrate Virginia Live. Sheryl Crow will be here July 12th. Tickets go on sale April 12th. This is a show you don’t want to miss. You can buy them online or at Legends Sports Grille.

I know everyone is eager to hear who is coming this year, but you need to be patient. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to make CVL a success. My CVL family works year round to bring you the best. They are trying to balance a variety of musical tastes. I know we can never make everyone happy, but we should not be negative either.

Wouldn’t you rather have a fun place to go in the summer that is close to home. We are supporting the community and local vendors. The more we spread the word about CVL the bigger the acts will be.

See you at the show…
