Look who is coming the the ‘burg – Trace Adkins

I am looking forward to the Trace Adkins concert tomorrow night. The first time I heard “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” I just giggled. That song makes me want to dance. When my Pop Pop in Florida heard Trace was coming to Celebrate Virginia Live he was sad he could not be here. He is a HUGE fan. Not only does he love his music he enjoyed watching him on The Celebrity Apprentice. My Pop can no longer travel, but loves hearing about all my charity work and seeing the pictures.

I am dedicating this concert and blog post to him.

A year and half ago my Pop suffered a series of strokes and has had a long recovery. He is a fighter and that is where I get a lot of my determination. Both my grandma and pop have faced serious medical challenges. When I heard Trace’s new song ‘If The Sun Comes Up” from his new album Love Will, I cried. I could picture my grandma and pop saying those words to me. It is amazing how much a song can move you.

Last year when my brother was graduating high school, my mom must have listened to “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “Then They Do” a thousand times by Trace Adkins. It is because of her I have learned to listen and love all types of music.

In the song “If The Sun Comes Up” there is a line “Please find something you can put your heart into”. That line says it all. When you go through something traumatic in your life it changes you. Through my medical journey I found I had a voice to make a difference. I love bringing awareness to charities that speak to me. Trace Adkins feels the same way about the American Red Cross. When he lost his home to a fire, they were there for his family. He raised over $600,000 for the American Red Cross on the Celebrity Apprentice. This is why “Ladies Love Country Boys”.

I will see you tomorrow at Celebrate Virginia Live. Gates open at 5:30pm. I will be onstage to open the show with my friends from Thunder 104.5, Melanie Skahen singing the National Anthem and the Young Marines Color Guard. Cody Purvis will take the stage at 6:00pm. Make sure you bring a friend, neighbor, or family member. Tickets are available online or at Legends.

Love,

Megs

You Don’t Want To Miss This..

Image

It’s the weekend …love the smell of the fresh cut grass. I look around and I see families on blankets, girlfriends talking, a mom and a dad having a date night, a grandma and grandpa holding hands sitting in their lawn chairs, bunch of guys walking around saying hi! to the ladies. I smell French fries cooking in the Beach Fries food truck. Kids are running around laughing and giggling. I pass my teacher, I see an old friend, I wave to some friends who are excited to be up close and personal.

This is Celebrate Virginia Live!

This is where people near and far come out to enjoy a nice night. Relax after a long week. Get together with family and friends. You don’t want to miss this.

Last year my brother graduated high school. He spent many weekends of the summer enjoying concerts with his friends at Celebrate Virginia Live. He knew soon they would all part ways. They were all going to different colleges, some in different states.  He knew things would change, but the one memory they all had was those summer nights.

I love when he calls home from college and asks, “Hey Megs, who is coming to CVL this year”. His first year of college has ended and he is on his way home soon. Aside from searching for a job, he plans on reuniting with the guys and head to CVL to see Billy Currington on May 17th.

In two weeks I will be out there walking the grounds saying hi to everyone, waving from the stage, as I stand with my friends from Thunder 104.5. I can’t wait to meet the vendors, talk to the sponsors, and welcome all the amazing artists who chose Fredericksburg as a stop on their concert tour.

The weather is getting warmer and summer is just around the corner. Music means memories and there is no better place then having a concert close to home.

Trust me…you don’t want to miss this.

Concerts Announced….summer will be here soon!

I am very excited. The first three concerts of the Celebrate Virginia Concerts season have been announced. May 17th, Billy Currington, August 9th, Trace Adkins, and August 23rd, Brett Michaels. More will be coming and I will make sure to keep you updated. I am excited to resume my duties representing Project 3l24 the “Official Charity” of Celebrate Virginia Live. It is going to be an amazing season.

I am looking forward to having Brett Michaels at Celebrate Virginia. We have a lot in common. I hope we get a chance to talk. We both have had open heart surgery, suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA), raise awareness for charity, and love animals. My best friend Baileigh is a juvenile diabetic and so is Brett. He has done an amazing job to bring awareness to the disease. Like me, he believes you should serve as a role model and inspire people young and old to be get involved. I do not allow my “challenges” to define me. I have a BIG voice, but my platform is small, this is why I love when celebrities use their status to raise awareness. I hope everyone will come on out to the shows this summer. Spread the word. Bring your family and friends. It is a great way to spend a summer night. The more people we can have in attendance the bigger the shows will become.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a radio and twirl around the grounds on the golf cart. I wonder if I will be able to bedazzle a radio in rhinestones….hmmm!

See you soon..
